Privacy Policy

The following is the privacy policy regarding the handling of our members' Personal Information (“Kojin-Joho”), Personal Data (“Kojin-Data”) and Retained Personal Data (“Hoyu-Kojin-Data”) (all of which have the same meaning as defined in the Act on the Protection of Personal Information in Japan (the “Personal Information Protection Act”)) for all services provided by GION MONOGATARI inc. (the “Services”).

Article 1 (Control of Personal Information)

1.  We will handle the Personal Information registered by users appropriately in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act and other related laws and regulations, as well as the guidelines of the Personal Information Protection Committee and other guidelines and, will take necessary and appropriate measures to prevent leakage or loss, and to otherwise protect its security of the Personal Information and will strictly manage such personal information. 2. We will establish internal rules for complaints and inquiries regarding the handling of the Personal Information and will respond to complaints and inquiries promptly and in good faith. Please contact the support desk described in Article 7 for any complaints or inquiries regarding our handling of the Retained Personal Data.
3. We will use the Personal Information within the scope of the following purposes and any other related purposes thereto.

1.  To accept registrations for the Service, to verify the identity of the customer, and to provide, maintain, protect, and improve the Service.
2.  To provide information on the Service and to respond to inquiries.
3.  To cope with any acts that violate our rules or policies.
4.  To notify the users of amendments to the Terms and Conditions of the Service.
5.  To send e-mail newsletters containing information on our various useful products and services (including announcements and information related to housekeeping matters) by various means of notification, including direct mail and e-mail.
6.  To analyze and aggregate the acquired information to create trend data and marketing data for the purpose of improving products and services.

4.  We shall not modify or change the Personal Information without user’s prior consent.
5.  We shall not disclose the Personal Data to third parties without user’s prior consent unless otherwise permitted by laws.

Article 2 (Designation of Handling of Personal Information)

We may designate to a third party all or part of the handling of the Personal Information to the extent necessary to achieve the purposes described in Paragraph 3 of the preceding Article (including the case where we designate to a third party the services distributing of e-mail newsletters described in Item (6) of the same Paragraph). In such cases, we shall ensure that the designated third party complies with this Privacy Policy and supervises it appropriately.

Article 3 (Disclosure of Personal Information)

If we receive a request from a user for notification of the purpose of use or disclosure (including disclosure of records of provision of the Personal Data to third parties) of the Retained Personal Data that identifies the user in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act, we will disclose such data to the user without delay after confirming that the request is made by the user themselves (If there is no such Retained Personal Data, we will notify the user of the result). Please contact the support desk described in Article 7 for the specific procedures. Provided, however, this does not apply in the cases where we are not obligated to disclose such Retained Personal Data under the Personal Information Protection Act or other laws and regulations.

Article 4 (Correcting and Ceasing Use of Personal Information)

If we receive a request from users to correct, add, or delete ("Correction, etc.") the Retained Personal Data that identifies the user, based on the grounds that it is not accurate, in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act, or if we receive a request to cease using it or delete it based on the grounds that it is being handled beyond the scope of the previously disclosed purpose of use, or that it was collected by deceit or other wrongful means, we will, after confirming that the request is from the user themself, promptly conduct the necessary investigation and, based on the results, make the necessary Correction, etc., or, cease using, delete the Retained Personal Data, and notify the user to the result. If we determined not to make the Correction, etc., or cease using or delete the Retained Personal Data in accordance with the laws and regulations, we will notify the user to the result.

Article 5 (Web Server Records)

Our web server automatically collects and records the IP addresses of users' computers, but these IP addresses do not identify individual users. Unless you disclose your Personal Information by yourself, you may browse our website anonymously.

Article 6 (Amendment to Privacy Policy)

We will review the operation of the handling of the Personal Information from time to time and strive for continuous improvement and may amend this Privacy Policy as necessary. If we amend this Privacy Policy, we will notify users or publicly announce such amendment.
